MT WELLINGTON

Fern 'Tree

Just a few hundred metres past the turn off to the road leading to the summit of Mt Wellington is the mountain side suburb of Fern Tree.  A perfect spot for a picnic lunch.  Several Mt Wellington walking tracks converge just opposite the Fern Tree tavern at a well appointed picnic area.  Public transport to the area is available.  During the 2002/03 season there was a bus service specifically for the carriage of push bikes.  Despite being on the side of the mountain some of the tracks are suitable for bike riding.

The area is very well sign posted

Saint Raphael's - part of the history of Fern Tree. Walking tracks commence each side of the church.

The Pipeline Track just below Fern Tree.  5 minutes walk to the interesting aqueduct

Strickland Falls:

Follow the road towards Mt Wellington from the Cascade Brewery. The falls are just off the road on the last bend before the road joins Huon Road. The next stop is Fern Tree.
